Big Daddy was not really a great movie. There was a little bit of comedy, but that it. I don't have a favorite part becuase there is no cool parts. Please don't waist you money and time watching this horrible movie... its not worth it... I'll tell you a good movie... "Black Knight".

Big Daddy is great for film, even if you're a dad. The movie has outraeously funny scenes which are non-stop laughs. Adam Sandler does a historical performance and the acting is amazing. I don't see why people shouldn't see this film, it's too funny.

Sandler has a thing about him that makes his screams and rants very amusing. His "buddies" help make the supporting cast excellent as they have in his previous films. The kid idea was pretty interesting and well played out. This was a pretty funny movie for the summertime and remains as one of his best.

Funny previews, not as funny in movie - Big Daddy Reviews

When I saw the previews of this movie, I find many funny things in it. Then when I saw the actual movie, such funny things are very spaced out, and the movie is a little boring. There are some drama in it, that was not shown in the preview. We rented and watched this movie at home in December 1999. My favorite part of the movie was the rotating bookshelf in B&W, and the background music. My least favorite part of the movie was when the father and his son treated the entrance doors of the church as a restroom.

"daddy" falls flat on most cylinders - Big Daddy Reviews

Adam Sandler's films got progressively less clever after his peak in "Happy Gilmore." There came "The Waterboy," which had enough funny moments to distract from its stupid plot. However, the problem with "Big Daddy" is that it is not funny, and when an Adam Sandler movie cannot make you laugh it loses reason for existence. Sandler's character is a Syracuse Law Gradaute who sleeps most days and works once a week at a toll booth. Am I supposed to believe that? I actually think the waterboy with a knack for knocking down people is a more plausible character. And this guy who passed Syracuse Law covers wet bedsheets and milk spills with newspapers? Being a college student myself, I would expect even the most unsanitary of my classmates to use paper towels in these situations! I'd scream defamation if I was a Syracuse Law grad. Actually, I don't think I'll even apply to Syracuse Law for Law School after watching this movie. The kid Sandler's character takes care of offers his own problems. The whole "adoption" process is unrealistic. How does the adoption bureau not ask Sandler for ID when he presents himself as his buddy (John Stewart, who emerged as a comedy star in his own right since then, a star of intellectual comedy)? Besides, Sandler is an awful father to the kid: they urinate in public, throw sticks in front of skaters and go to bars. Unfortunately there are really parents who raise their kids this way in the U.S., but I doubt any of them have J.D.'s. If Sandler won possession over the kid, the kid would probably grow up to smash his Chevy into your car while driving under the influence. In addition, Sandler's romantic subplot is awful, so are all the Hooters references. Sandler's gay-couple friends are totally out of sync too. "Big Daddy" does not flunk due to a few good moments. There's the episode where Sandler rushes to McDonald's in the morning only to find out that McDonald's breakfast now ends at 10.30am and not 11. A wonderful way for somebody in Hollywood to express his unhappiness with the new McDonald's hours. The music in the film is also pretty good with 70's grooves like "Fooled Around And Fell In Love" by Elvin Bishop, "If I Can't Have You" by Yvonne Elliman and "Babe" by Styx. The musical highlight comes when the mariachi sings Styx's "The Best Of Times" while Sandler and his girl are dancing. Overall though, this is a disappointing movie with too few good moments.

Has some good laughs - Big Daddy Reviews

Big Daddy is funny, in spots. Adam Sandler really impressed me with Happy Gilmore, I thought every scene in that movie was absolutely hilarious. Big Daddy was the second film I saw of Sandler's, and I half to say, I was impressed for the first half of the film. The second half starts to get repetitive, and just when we think we know what's gonna happen in this comedy, it tries to switch to drama, quite unsucessfully, might I add. It's the story of Sonny Kaufax (Adam Sandler), a grown up kid who's girlfriend just dumped him and he thinks that maybe he can impress her with this kid that accidentaly showed up at his doorstep. But then he starts to actually like the kid and shows him useful, fatherly things, such as picking your own name (he picks Frankenstein), tripping rollerbladers with sticks, and pissing in your teacher's plants. So yeah, Sonny ain't a good father, even when he tries. He doesn't do anything to stop his kid from doing extremely antisocial and mean-spirited things, but that's really besides the point. All the movie wants to do is get a cheap laugh or two out of the viewer, and for the first 3/4 of the film, it suceeds at getting the viewer to crack up (however mean-spirited the humor is) on several occasions. The last chunk of the film sort of expects us to sympathize deeply with Sonny or something as he battles in court to get custody of the kid. Unfortunetely, Adam Sandler never proved he was very good at drama till Punch-Drunk Love, but that was 3 years later. He needed more maturity to bring to hte role than he had then. Nonetheless, Big Daddy is worth checking out if you wanna see how Adam Sandler evolved from doing crap like Billy Madison to doing the good stuff like Punch-Drunk Love and 50 First Dates.

Amazing - Big Daddy Reviews

This is an amazing film. I just love it. It shows how to love, care, and make friends with someone. Adam Sandler has always been my favorite actor. The Sprouse twins were outstanding too.

Bad daddy - Big Daddy Reviews

When I compare Big Daddy to his more recent efforts of Anger Management and Click it seems that Adam Sandler has come a long way. Big Daddy simply is not a very funny or even entertaining movie. It basically appeals to just juvenile tastes of humor and is not even very entertaining for that genre. His supporting cast for Big Daddy is also quite poor. I would recommend that if you are looking for one of Sandler's early films that you check out Happy Gilmore since it is much more entertaining.

The jokes were funny. I loved Adam Sandler(his acting of course). Without him, the movie wouldn't have been as good. The whole movie was good, with many laughs, but the producers knew that the story had to have somewhat of a story line, not just a whole bunch of humor. And, well, they screwed that up. The ending was way too serious for a movie with lots of laughs. And the whole girl like guy thing got so annoying that the movie got REALLY boring after a while. My friends and I were about to stop watching it, but there wasn't any thing else to do. Go see this movie if you like jokes about sextual stuff. Otherwise, don't.

If you are NOT a fan of Adam Sandler, skip this one and all his other films. But if you are like me and enjoy Sandler's twisted humor then you are in for a good time, sober or not. Adam is "Sonny" a law school graduate that has becime truly bored with is life and decides he isnt going to live by everyone elses rules, he has a job its one day a week at a toll booth. Sonny certainly lacks any discipline and has no responsibilities. His girlfriend dumps him due to his lack of motivation , etc... Ironically a little boy shows up at Sonny's door, it happens to be one of his roommate's kid. Sonny sees this as a perfect opportunity to show his ex-girlfriend that she made a mistake and he has become so responsible that he was able to adopt a little boy. But the trick doesnt work and instead Sonny finds himself "stuck" with this kid. He eventually learns to genuinely love the boy but then his scam is revealed when children services find out that Sonny isnt who he says he is. Okay , i'll admit some of the story is very unlikely like the children services handing over a boy without thoroughly checking backgrounds. But hey its an Adam Sandler movie what do ya' expect?...the movie is very funny and yet very deep at times, but just enough mushiness and comedy to keep everyone laughing or crying. Steve Buscemi is hilarious as the homeless war veteran too. Big Daddy.....adopt the DVD today.

I've seen this movie over and over again, and i keep on laughing. I've almost memorized the movie, but everytime i watch it, i enjoy it. It's one of the funniest comedies, without trying hard to make people laugh, and that is what is perfect. That is what makes a comedy great.
